If you want to fix a problem - the first step is to identify what it really is.

From working with hundreds of people with facial asymmetry, here is the common pattern:
Your jaw is literally further EXPANDED, and grown on one side than the other!
- One side of your maxilla has more forward growth
- One side is further expanded
- Your mandible comes further forward on one side
That's why your eyes look different. It's why your nose and cheeks look different. And it's why you have a "better side" and a "worse side".
But just looking at your face doesn't tell the full story because...
The entire spine is connected. It's one of the miracles of the human body.
But when it comes to asymmetry, this creates a problem.
If ONE side of your jaw is more developed, this will affect your head and neck posture.
So now, your cervical spine is imbalanced. If ANY PART of your spine is imbalanced, it will translate to your entire body.
Scoliosis is not a rare condition. Almost EVERYONE has some degree postural imbalance.
The greater the imbalance in your maxilla and tongue, the greater the imbalance will be in your body.
Your maxilla is constantly changing based on the forces acting upon it. The most important of which, is your tongue.
Your tongue is your natural palate "expander". And, it's also a retainer.
Your tongue is likely the reason your maxilla is imbalanced. In almost everyone I meet with, this is the case:
- The tongue pushes more on one side
- The side that pushes more is the "better" side
- The side that pushes less is the worse side
The maxilla will almost "magically" become more symmetrical as a result.
Unfortunately, many people don't know this.
And that's why "mainstream" solutions focus only on symptoms, and ignore the root cause.
If you've been trying to solve asymmetry for a while, you've probably heard of some of these methods before:
"I started Mewing, and everything was going fine, but then after a while I noticed my asymmetry getting worse, I don't know how to fix this, it pushes more on one side than the other."
Mewing can be exhausting. It can be a lot of work. But not only that, it can make actually make your asymmetry worse.
It's logical to think, I should just Mew more with the other side. But In my experience, this does not work.
If one side is already pushing up more, any effort you make to push your tongue up harder can "exaggerate" the asymmetry that already exists.
"I know these appliances don't work - because the end up in my chair afterwards. Usually even worse off than when they started"
Many people will turn to more invasive measures. Surgeries, or orthodontic appliances to "expand" the jaw.
But the reality is, trying to expand the jaw externally, is difficult.
It requires expanding horizontally, and forwards.
Head gear, expanders, braces, 10's of thousands of dollars, and years of your life in appliances. Not to mention - it's extremely difficult to find a dentist who can effectively do this with adults. Almost impossible in my experience.
You may be saying:"There must be an easier way". And there is.
If our jaws got worse naturally, they can become better naturally as well.
That's what I always believed. And that belief, has been confirmed by the dentists I've worked with over the years:
"Our jaws are constantly changing, even into our later adult years. And they're changing, based on the forces being applied to them. The most important of which, is your tongue."
So, you're telling me if I even out my tongue, I can even out my maxilla?
That's exactly what I'm saying. At first, I was skeptical of this as well... Until I experienced the difference for myself.
How I discovered The Exercises to Naturally Fix Asymmetry
One day when I was 16, stumbling around on Youtube desperate to find a solution to this problem, I found a video from Elliot Hulse, with simple neck stretches to improve your posture.
The first time I tried these exercises... I was blown away.
After I did the stretches... I felt it. Something felt different in my tongue and my jaw. When I looked in the mirror... I saw it!
After just 5 minutes of stretching, my tongue was more even! It was pressing up more without me having to "try" and do Mewing! I was so excited about these exercises, I would do them all the time.
I would do them in the mirror in the morning, while listening to music. I would do them at night, before going to parties. I would do them before and after the gym. I was obsessed. I had a set of exercises that were really working - and improving my jaw every time I used them.
I shared these exercises on Youtube, and the response was amazing! They weren't just helping me, but other people were experiencing the results as well!
Fixing Asymmetry at the Source
I kept searching over the years, and finally I found the solution from a Dentist named Dr. Shehab, in Australia. We were on a zoom call and he said, "why don't you just try training the side that isn't pushing up? Sometimes you need to isolate the worse side, until it starts working properly.
So, I tried it. I used the myospots to train ONLY the left side of my tongue. And the result?
Amazing! I felt something I'd never felt before. Every time I swallowed, my tongue was pressing more on the left side!
I kept experimenting with these exercises over time, and I noticed the more even my tongue became, the more symmetrical my jaw became!
I was so excited - I had a set of exercises that in only 10-15 minutes per day, could improve my tongue, jaw and posture!
I became obsessed. It wasn't a "discipline". It wasn't a "chore".
These exercises were cool. They were amazing. I loved the idea that I could do them as a daily habit, and feel improvements day by day...

Step 1: Full Asymmetry Assessment
First, we do your assessment. We want to get an accurate "picture" of your asymmetry.

A set of simple exercises that "train" the worse side of your tongue uni-laterally. This means, only training the weaker side of your tongue.

Do I have to keep doing the exercises forever?
Note: you do not have to do these exercises forever. In myofunctional therapy, people reach what's known as the "habituation phase" after 12-16 weeks. Meaning, your tongue is now "habitually" in the correct positon.
Remember, your tongue is both your natural retainer, and expander. If you change the resting position of your tongue and posture, it will maintain itself over time.
Just like your "retaining" your maxilla in the current imbalanced position, it will also maintain it's balance once corrected.

3 Reasons to Focus on Asymmetry Before Anything Else
By far the most common problem people have in the Best Face Forward Audience - is asymmetry. And whenever I speak to someone with facial asymmetry, this is what i tell them:
Before you do ANYTHING - you need to fix your asymmetry.
Here are 3 reasons why:
1. Asymmetry has been shown to be THE most important factor in facial attractiveness
Studies from McMaster University show that symmetry is the most important factor to how attractive someone finds you.
2. If ONE side of your face is worse - improving that side will make your WHOLE jawline better
If you want to expand your jaw, and achieve forward growth, but ONE side is lagging behind the other, then that's a problem.
By improving the weaker side (aka fixing asymmetry) your entire jaw will look better because you're "bringing up the weakest link". Now once you've improved the worse side, both sides can improve in unison!

This program is not for you if:
- You have a severe health issue related to your jaw and/or dental health. For example, if you have difficulty breathing, TMJ (jaw pain, clicking, locking), if you have severe sleep apnea, or serious health issues. In these instances, it's recommended that you're treated by a physician, sleep dentist, or appropriate professional
- If you don't have 10-15 minutes per day to commit to the exercises in this program, than it's not for you. It can work, and it can work quickly. But it takes some effort on your part.

We swallow hundreds of times per day, by evening out that swallow and the force of your tongue, your face will start to look more even!
Ryan created the program with the help of several myofunctional therapists, and holistic dentists. He's been experimenting with these exercises for several years, and has finally found the program that is safe for everyone to do.
The exercises provided for the tongue correction have been verified as safe, and effective general exercises to strengthen the muscles of the tongue, cheeks, and lips. The posture exercises are simple stretches designed to balance out the muscles of the body.
You can expect the exercises to take between 10-15 minutes every day. But, we make them fun with great music, and the excitement of getting better every day!
Also, you will be asked to use Myospots, or a similar product. This will be used passively for around 30 minutes per day, and you can use it while working, relaxing, watching TV, or going for a walk.

Many people need a program to follow. Simply doing the free exercises is often not enough.
You can still do these exercises. They are designed to balance out the muscles of the tongue, neck, and upper body. This will be beneficial for you regardless of if you have braces or not.
It is still in this case best to consult your dentist or orthodontist to ask if these types of exercises would be appropriate for your specific situation.
In short, yes. Correcting the function of your tongue can immediately show signs of improvement in how your face looks. The actual bone and your jaw may make small changes over time, however, the appearance of your lips, smile, jaw, and cheeks can appear more symmetrical very quickly (in some circumstances, results are not guaranteed).
In either case - correcting the function of the tongue, and balancing out asymmetrical muscles is extremely beneficial and worthwhile at any age!
